About the position

The Budget and Finance Director for Woodbury County is responsible for providing financial guidance to the County Board of Supervisors, ensuring compliance with the Code of Iowa. This role involves managing financial projects, conducting budget reviews, and assisting various departments with financial and budgetary issues. The director will also prepare position papers and presentations to address statutory compliance and citizen concerns, all while maintaining the best interests of the taxpayers.

Responsibilities

• Provide financial guidance to the County Board of Supervisors in compliance with the Code of Iowa.
• Manage and supervise financial projects assigned by the Board of Supervisors.
• Conduct research and prepare position papers or oral presentations for statutory compliance.
• Investigate budget reviews to ensure proper management of funds.
• Provide direction and assistance to departments on financial and budgetary issues.

Requirements

• CPA or Master's in Business Administration preferred.
• Budgetary experience required with a background in accounting desirable.
• Proficient in computer skills, including Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of assessed and taxable valuations related to County requirements.
• Ability to understand and interpret legal descriptions of property.
• Knowledge of the Iowa Code related to the scope of responsibility.
• Ability to train, instruct, and motivate others.
