About the position

This position is responsible for managing financial and budgeting processes within the organization, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and internal policies. The role involves collaboration with program staff to develop and monitor budgets, analyze financial data, and support both domestic and international projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of financial and budgeting policies, procedures, and practices, including month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Work with program staff to create, modify, and monitor revenue and expense budgets, ensuring accuracy for executive review and approval.
  • Support domestic and international projects with multiple donors by tracking and managing financial reporting and donor spending compliance.
  • Lead the budget renewal process and ensure timely submission and uploading of all budget templates into PeopleSoft modules.
  • Analyze budget variances, highlight areas of concern, and propose solutions to address financial discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with program staff and the Philanthropic Partnership Group to develop donor budget proposals and prepare donor financial reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with at least 4 years of accounting/finance experience.
  • Expertise in MS Excel, including pivot tables, macros, and data importing/exporting.
  • Experience with grant, contract, project, or donor cost accounting is a plus.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (PeopleSoft Financials preferred) and experience with Tableau reports is desirable.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and customer service skills, with a focus on business process improvement.
  • Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data to staff and management effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with grant, contract, project, or donor cost accounting is a plus.
  • Experience with Tableau reports is desirable.
