About the position

The Budget and Forecasting Analyst at Dollar Tree is responsible for providing financial oversight for store supplies-related expenses and expense inventory control across distribution facilities. This role involves preparing various analyses, participating in annual budget preparation, and supporting leadership with strategic projects. The analyst will act as a liaison between Field Operations and the Shared Services Center, focusing on P&L research and invoice reconciliation to control costs effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Compile, analyze, and provide detailed and summary reports on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis to drive expense savings and profitability.
  • Organize the fiscal period close process, including invoice uploads, accruals, journal entries, and account reconciliation.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for projects and processes related to Store P&Ls, store supplies, and 3PL reconciliation.
  • Participate in the annual budget preparation for areas of responsibility and support leadership with strategic projects and initiatives.
  • Manage and monitor various expense lines, working with the field and departments to resolve issues and minimize expenses.
  • Identify root causes for business problems and analyze expense lines to provide business commentary and solutions.
  • Work with suppliers and vendors to support initiatives and drive revenue and expense savings at the store level.
  • Monitor and make recommendations on weekly shortage and inventory level reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in Retail Operations, Project Management, or Financial Operations.
  • Strong analytical, communication, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in MS Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.

Nice-to-haves

  • Inventory control and financial analysis experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Lawson, Blackline, Ariba, CPA or CMA certification.
  • Knowledge of SQL and Oracle VB is a plus.
