About the position

The Budget and Business Technician at USC Auxiliary Services plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of the department. This position involves accurate data entry, account reconciliation, and support for financial processes, ensuring that the needs of students, faculty, and staff are met effectively. The technician will work closely with various business units to enhance financial operations and contribute to the overall success of Auxiliary Services.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the set-up, maintenance, and monitoring of department accounts.
  • Prepare, process, and/or review paperwork related to financial transactions.
  • Input financial data to ledgers or departmental accounting systems.
  • Reconcile internal records to the University financial system ASR's.
  • Monitor blanket requisition charges and itemize expenses.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and pay invoices.
  • Interface with purchasing, external vendors, and accounts payable to verify prices and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist in the preparation of periodic financial reports for internal and/or external use.
  • Perform daily credit card & cash reconciliations.
  • Support the USC Transportation finance manager with month close processes.
  • Responsible for daily cash deposits in Workday & prepping deposits for Brinks pickup and processing refunds.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of directly related office financial experience.
  • Knowledge of accounts payable, income and expense accounting, reconcilement, and budget preparation.
  • Demonstrated communication and customer service skills.
  • Mathematical skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's Degree.
  • College coursework in business administration, accounting, or related field.
