About the position

The Budget/Business Technician at the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work plays a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of the department. This position involves assisting with financial transactions, maintaining department accounts, and ensuring compliance with university policies. The technician will work closely with faculty, staff, and students, providing essential support to enhance the academic and research enterprise of the school.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the set-up, maintenance, and monitoring of department accounts.
  • Prepare, process, and/or review paperwork related to financial transactions.
  • Input financial data to ledgers or departmental accounting systems.
  • Reconcile internal records to the University financial system ASR's.
  • Monitor blanket requisition charges and itemize expenses.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and pay invoices.
  • Interact with University financial offices to exchange information and resolve problems.
  • Assist in the preparation of periodic financial reports for internal and/or external use.
  • Perform daily credit card & cash reconciliations.
  • Coordinate deposits and gift processing.
  • Support accounting/finance manager with month close processes.
  • Process ICA requests through Lincware portal and subsequent payments.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • 2 years of directly related office financial experience.
  • Knowledge of accounts payable, income and expense accounting, reconcilement, and budget preparation.
  • Demonstrated communication and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, and University laws and policies.
  • Strong mathematical skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's Degree.
  • College coursework in business administration, accounting, or related field.
  • 2 years of directly related work experience.

Benefits

  • Hourly pay range up to $25.68/Hr.
