About the position

The Budget/Finance Manager will support the Office of the Director's Science Planning and Operations Branch at DAIDS within the NIAID. This role involves maintaining financial models, assisting in budget planning, and ensuring alignment with scientific opportunities and operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain multiyear financial models and ensure congruence with Institute planning models.
  • Provide input and assistance in establishing an operational budgetary plan for the year.
  • Assist with periodic updates of the operational budgetary plan during execution.
  • Formulate and adapt budget planning models to align with scientific opportunities defined by Division leadership.
  • Maintain, update, and monitor Division planning and execution data systems, tracking variances of actual to budget.
  • Assist with commitment base tracking systems based on funding allocations.
  • Track budget-related activities including multi-year grants, contract awards, and funds management.
  • Assist in responding to budget-related communications requests.
  • Generate and provide financial data for the Institute budget mission plan.
  • Assist in preparing Commitment Bases, Budgets, and Strategic Plan Tables as required by the NIH Office of AIDS Research.
  • Prepare and report actual financial results as required by OAR.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of experience working with multi-component budgets.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
