Responsibilities

  • Perform complex budgetary functions and management analyses projects.
  • Lead a team and provide technical guidance and training to subordinate Budget Management Analysts or Budget Aides.
  • Prepare monthly overtime reports and monitor overtime spending.
  • Develop strategies for reducing overtime expenditures to ensure budget compliance.
  • Prepare appropriation adjustments to transfer funds between budget categories.
  • Participate in the development of budgetary forms, procedures, and report formats.
  • Project General Fund revenues allocated to the Office of the Sheriff.
  • Implement management and budgetary reporting systems to track and monitor expenditures.
  • Prepare financial and analytical reports, spreadsheets, and charts within deadlines.
  • Analyze projected over-expenditures and propose solutions.
  • Monitor expiration dates of term contracts and report to the Budget Analyst V.
  • Assist with year-end closing and external audits.
  • Coordinate completion and submission of all grant applications and reports.
  • Review expenditures allocated to grants to confirm allowable expenses.
  • Prepare journal entries and reconcile grant/contract data for clarity and accuracy.
  • Lead payroll coordinators in resolving complex payroll issues.
  • Keep the Budget and Finance Division Manager informed of current activities and program results.
  • Prepare written and oral reports for various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business/Public Management, Finance, Economics, Quantitative Analyses, or a closely related field.
  • Two years of progressively responsible administrative and budgeting experience.
