About the position

The City of Asheville is seeking a Budget & Performance Analyst to manage the city's financial resources, focusing on budgeting, accounting, and performance management. This role aims to ensure fiscal responsibility and strategic alignment with City Council goals by partnering with various departments, monitoring performance, and developing systems to resolve complex issues.

Responsibilities

• Partnering with City departments to identify and implement innovative ideas and project management strategies.
• Monitoring the City's performance in achieving the City Council's strategic priorities.
• Assisting departments with data collection, management, and ensuring high data quality and governance.
• Developing systems and resolving complex problems that impact multiple departments.
• Working with the Assistant Manager and Manager to provide performance updates through dashboards and visualizations.
• Participating in cross-departmental teams with employees from all levels of the organization.
• Analyzing and evaluating existing systems, policies, procedures, and processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
• Supporting the development of performance metrics and organizational work planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree
• At least two years of increasingly responsible experience in data analysis, budget analysis, project management, public administration, business administration, or related work.
• Prior experience with data analytics and quality management systems preferred.
