About the position

The Budget & Policy Analyst position at the Department of Corrections (DOC) focuses on providing analytical support to facilitate decision-making regarding the Department's biennial budget and associated policy areas. This role involves preparing fiscal estimates, conducting cost-benefit analyses, and analyzing legislation and programs to support the Department's mission of public safety and effective management of resources.

Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical services to Administrators and management for decision-making in assigned program areas.
  • Prepare fiscal estimates and conduct cost-benefit analyses.
  • Analyze legislation, statutes, programs, policies, and organizational structures within the Department.
  • Respond to information requests from internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Experience in creating and preparing papers on programs, data analyses, and financial information.
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel functions such as sorting, filtering, pivot tables, and formula functions.
  • Experience in collecting and analyzing data and providing recommendations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience analyzing public policy issues, proposals, and state or federal legislation.
  • Experience presenting and briefing stakeholders on data analyses and financial reports.
