About the position

The Budget Program Analyst at Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest (LSS-SW) plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive budgetary, financial, and analytical services to program managers. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this position supports multi-site programs and administration staff by overseeing project budget expenditures, conducting analyses, and making recommendations to optimize spending. The analyst is also responsible for processing billing and invoices, as well as ensuring compliance with established accounting policies and internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and issue monthly invoices.
  • Prepare regular and special budget reports, reviewing budget proposals for completeness and accuracy.
  • Collaborate to develop the organization's budget.
  • Work with internal departments to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant financial information.
  • Relay status and availability of funds.

Requirements

  • AA Degree or equivalent in accounting or a related field.
  • One or more years of related experience in general ledger reconciliations or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret accounting journals and financial reports.
  • Strong financial and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, and percentages.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products, particularly advanced Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Non-profit experience preferred.
