About the position

The Budget/Revenue Analyst at aFit will collaborate with agency personnel and stakeholders to ensure effective budget management and compliance with state and federal regulations. This role emphasizes exceptional customer service and the ability to analyze fiscal trends, project expenditures, and optimize financial resources. The analyst will work closely with various state agencies to improve funding requests and performance metrics, while also preparing and analyzing financial reports.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate and maintain collaborative working relationships with state agency directors and financial staff.
  • Field questions and provide guidance regarding assigned funds and grant projects.
  • Research, develop, prepare, and analyze state/federal financial status reports.
  • Collaborate with budget analysts and Division Directors on state/federal assistance requests.
  • Conduct budget analysis and advise division leaders on fiscal matters.
  • Review and analyze agency submitted biennial budget requests based on Budget Agency policies.
  • Prepare annual and biennial budget recommendations for the Budget Director.
  • Monitor agency expenditures and approve fiscal transactions.
  • Investigate and resolve budget errors related to funding and financial transactions.
  • Track bills through the legislative process and assess their fiscal impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, or a related field with 2+ years of experience, or 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • General knowledge of the budgetary process and state accounting principles.
  • Analytical and quantitative skills in finance, accounting, statistics, and economics.
  • Experience analyzing fiscal trends and projecting expenditures and revenues accurately.
  • Adequate computer skills in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
