Albuquerque Joinery LLC is seeking a highly skilled craftsman or craftswoman to join our dedicated team in Albuquerque, NM. We are a small design-build company that specializes in new home construction utilizing traditional adobe building techniques. Our approach is unique as we focus on building one house at a time, ensuring that each project receives the attention and craftsmanship it deserves. Our small team of multidisciplinary craftsmen is involved in nearly every aspect of construction, which includes foundational work, concrete work, adobe construction, heavy timber framing, roof framing, conventional carpentry, earthen plastering, and fine finish details such as cabinetry and doors. Most of our work occurs on-site at the construction location, with some tasks being carried out in our 1,700 square foot woodworking shop/studio. We are deeply committed to the quality and longevity of our buildings, and we hold a strong respect for traditional craftsmanship and the preservation of our adobe building heritage. We are looking for an individual who is not only skilled but also interested in a long-term commitment to our team. The ideal candidate will possess good woodworking skills, with prior experience in a cabinet or fabrication shop being highly desirable. Mastery of woodworking machinery, including table saws, jointers, planers, routers, and sliding table saws, is essential. The ability to work independently and efficiently, create shop drawings, and plan out fabrication processes is also required. Familiarity with Sketchup software is a plus, as is a willingness to learn masonry, adobe, plastering, and general construction site work. Our crew consists of building generalists and multi-tradesmen, and we all contribute to the menial tasks as well. We value problem solvers and big-picture thinkers, and candidates with a background in construction project management or those who have successfully overseen significant projects will be particularly well-suited for this role. We are looking for someone who is physically fit, comfortable lifting heavy objects, and able to work safely on scaffolding and ladders. Candidates must have their own basic carpentry tools and must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Additionally, applicants must reside in New Mexico, as all our jobs are located in Albuquerque. We are eager to bring a new team member on board as we prepare to break ground on our next adobe build, a 2,500 square foot adobe home in the North Valley, and we hope to have the new hire start at the beginning of construction.
