About the position

The Application Engineer II at Mesa Energy Systems is responsible for designing and programming control systems for HVAC mechanical services. This role involves coordinating planning efforts, creating designs, and ensuring the efficient operation of mechanical, electrical, and control systems to meet customer expectations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the planning and design of control systems including programming and system configuration.
• Identify MEP systems on drawings and understand the intent of individual mechanical equipment such as chillers, boilers, pumps, and air handling units.
• Develop written sequences of operations based on mechanical drawings or real-world site conditions.
• Design complex electrical circuits including VFDs, motor starters, transducers, actuators, sensors, and relay logic.
• Utilize Visio and AutoCAD for design purposes and create P&IDs based on mechanical equipment.
• Select control hardware based on equipment requirements and discover new control technologies to enhance existing products.
• Develop controls submittals and O&M packages, and identify potential scopes of work for controls implementation.
• Interact with field electricians to specify methods of installation and create control panel construction schedules.
• Maintain control panel material inventory.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
• 4+ years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in applications engineering.
• Knowledge of electronics, mechanics, and computer programming is required.
• Working knowledge of at least two HVAC controls systems (preferably Distech, Honeywell, Schneider Electric, Johnson Controls, or Delta).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
• Experience with control system architecture design, programming, or maintenance is desired.
