About the position

The Building Automation Application Engineer II at Mesa Energy Systems is responsible for designing and implementing control systems for HVAC mechanical services. This role involves working with various mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring efficient operation and integration of controls technology to meet customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Identify MEP systems on drawings.
• Understand the intent of individual mechanical equipment such as chillers, boilers, pumps, AHUs, FCUs, VAVs, and EFs.
• Design complex electrical circuits including VFDs, motor starters, transducers, actuators, sensors, and relay logic.
• Utilize Visio and AutoCAD for design purposes.
• Select control hardware based on equipment requirements.
• Discover new control technologies to enhance existing product offerings.
• Create P&IDs based on mechanical equipment only.
• Develop controls submittals with minimal assistance from senior engineers.
• Identify potential scopes of work for controls implementation.
• Interact with field electricians and specify methods of installation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
• 4+ years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in applications engineering.
• EIT or PE license desired.
• Knowledge of electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming.
• Working knowledge of at least two HVAC controls systems (preferably Distech, Delta, Schneider or JCI).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with control system architecture design, programming, or maintenance desired.
