About the position

Mesa Energy Systems, a subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc., is seeking a Building Automation Application Engineer III to join our team in Las Vegas, NV. This role is pivotal in executing project start-ups, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of installed Building Automation System (BAS) controls and mechanical systems on assigned projects. The successful candidate will work closely with the project team and the customer's IT Department to coordinate network drops, IP addresses, and monitoring tools, ensuring seamless integration and operation of the systems. In this position, you will be responsible for running complex reports to analyze system operations, demonstrating system functionality, and verifying that operations align with the contracted scope of work. You will develop written sequences of operation based on mechanical drawings and must possess a deep understanding of the design and intent of various mechanical equipment and systems, including chillers, boilers, custom air handling units (AHUs), and energy solutions. Your analytical skills will be crucial as you develop scopes of work for controls implementation, create control algorithms, and manage databases. Additionally, you will be tasked with giving technical presentations on building automation, controls, and emerging technologies, showcasing your expertise in multiple systems integration. Participation in final inspections and testing is essential, as is ensuring customer acceptance and conducting training for end-user customers on system operations. This role requires a blend of technical knowledge, project management skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Executes project start-ups, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of installed BAS controls and mechanical systems on assigned projects.
  • Participates in the layout and coordination of network drops, IP addresses, and monitoring tools with customer's IT Department personnel.
  • Runs complex reports to analyze system operation, works with project team to demonstrate system operation and verify consistency with the contracted scope of work.
  • Develops written sequence of operation based on mechanical drawings.
  • Understands the design and intent of mechanical equipment and systems such as Chiller, Boiler, Custom AHUs, Primary/Secondary pumping, Variable flow Chilled water plants, Clean Room Applications, Demand Response, and Energy solutions.
  • Analyzes systems and develops scope of work for controls implementation, creates control algorithms, downloads source code to controllers, and manages databases.
  • Gives technical presentations on building automation, controls, and emerging technology and experience in multiple systems integration.
  • Participates in final inspection and testing, assures customer acceptance, and conducts training for end user customers on system operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
  • 8+ years of direct automation experience with control system architecture design and programming required.
  • 6+ years of experience with Niagara AX/N4 - Niagara N4 Certified.
  • Knowledge of Direct Digital Controls, BACnet, MODbus, Tridium, Distech, and Delta required.
  • Must have working knowledge of HVAC systems - Unitary Systems to Central Plants.
  • EIT or PE license desired.
  • Engineering skills required include knowledge of electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with control system architecture design, programming, or maintenance desired.
