About the position

The Building Automation HVAC Engineer I position at the University of Missouri's Energy Management department focuses on providing professional engineering services related to HVAC control systems. The role involves programming, commissioning, and managing mechanical HVAC control systems to optimize energy consumption across the university's extensive facilities. The engineer will work collaboratively with project teams, support HVAC installations, and contribute to energy conservation efforts, all while ensuring compliance with campus energy standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provides professional engineering services to meet client requests/needs and to manage the day-to-day activities of other project team members.
  • Program and commission mechanical HVAC control systems.
  • Produce HVAC control drawings and sequence of operation for campus needs.
  • Provide engineering support for the HVAC installation and service control technicians.
  • Review project documents to ensure heating and cooling mechanical systems meet campus energy/design standards.
  • Manage control system database.
  • Work with engineering student interns.
  • Assist with commissioning and testing and balancing efforts.
  • Coordinate energy conservation efforts with projects, control upgrades, and fault detection efforts.
  • Provide engineering support for the campus card access system.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with HVAC systems controls and programming.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
