About the position

The Automation Technician III at Mesa Energy Systems is responsible for understanding and implementing mechanical equipment and systems, particularly in HVAC controls. This role involves analyzing systems, diagnosing issues, and interfacing with installation and maintenance teams to ensure efficient operation and integration of building automation systems.

Responsibilities

• Understand the design and intent of mechanical equipment and systems including Chillers, Boilers, and Custom AHUs.
• Analyze systems and develop scope of work for controls implementation.
• Monitor, identify, and diagnose potential problems using computer workstations and on-site observations.
• Interface with installation or maintenance team members to execute installations, repairs, or modifications of controlled systems and equipment.
• Give technical presentations on building automation, controls, and emerging technology.
• Locate defective or non-operational components in new and existing systems using test equipment and programming knowledge.

Requirements

• Minimum eight (8) years of direct automation experience with control systems and programming required.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
• Working knowledge of at least three HVAC controls systems (preferably Delta, JCI or Andover).
• Ability to interface with customers at a supervisory and management level.
• Engineering skills required include knowledge of electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with control system architecture design, programming, or maintenance desired.
• Good computer skills, understanding of controls networking.
• A valid driver's license.
