About the position

Convergentz, a division of Hunton Group, is seeking a dedicated Building Automation System (BAS) Installation Technician to join our team in Houston, TX. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge environmental-comfort systems. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in the installation, diagnosis, and repair of these systems, leveraging their knowledge of air conditioning theory, hydronic theory, and modern control techniques. The technician will be responsible for ensuring that all installations meet the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction. In this role, the technician will be tasked with installing and servicing products and equipment on assigned projects. This includes using a variety of hand tools and laptop computers to follow blueprints or engineering specifications for the installation, diagnosis, repair, and programming of HVAC equipment. The technician will prepare for on-site installations and repairs by examining building layouts, anticipating potential difficulties, gathering necessary materials, and coordinating on-site work as needed. Additionally, the technician will be responsible for inspecting vehicles for condition and literature supplies, maintaining equipment by checking for signs of wear, and documenting work by completing paperwork for each job and maintaining organized files. The technician will also represent the company as a direct contact for customers, providing support to HVAC Field Technicians and utilizing project plans to prioritize and schedule work effectively. This position requires the technician to determine parts needed for repairs and assess the timeliness of those needs, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and to the satisfaction of our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for installing and servicing products and equipment on assigned projects and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Uses a variety of hand tools and laptop computers, following blueprints or engineering specifications, to install, diagnose, repair, and program HVAC equipment.
  • Prepares for on-site installation and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials and coordinating on-site work, as necessary.
  • Inspects vehicles by checking vehicle condition and literature supplies.
  • Maintains equipment by inspecting for signs of wear (maladjustment, miscalibration, malfunction, and drift).
  • Documents work by completing paperwork on each job and maintaining files.
  • Represents company by serving as a direct customer contact.
  • Supports HVAC Field Technicians by providing field support.
  • Utilizes project plans to prioritize and schedule work.
  • Determines parts to order for repairs and timeliness of need.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, trade schools or certificates.
  • Strong technical and mathematical aptitude.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Able to travel locally as required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, AutoCAD, and programming.
  • Minimum of two years' experience working on controls systems is preferred.
  • Field experience on installing and servicing/repairing BAS systems as well as electrical is preferred.
