About the position

LEI Companies, founded in 2002, is a full-service electrical contractor and energy solutions provider specializing in complex renovations, new construction, and special systems including fire alarm and building automation. The Building Automation System (BAS) Installer/Apprentice will be responsible for the complete oversight of building automation and temperature control solutions. This role involves performing inspections and service as assigned, ensuring that all jobs and paperwork are completed efficiently, accurately, and with high quality. The position requires planning, coordination, and layout of work, ensuring that materials, tools, equipment, and information are in the proper places at the proper time to meet or exceed production rates. The installer will perform the actual work and installations as required, maintaining high levels of client satisfaction and communication, and acting as a problem solver. Key responsibilities include the ability to start, manage, and complete work at or above expected gross margin targets, performing high-quality, code-compliant installations that save labor and satisfy customers. The installer will also be responsible for directing subcontractors, maintaining and keeping current all As-Built drawings, completing daily field reports, and ensuring that all installations comply with the NEC and local AHJ requirements. The role requires the ability to handle multiple work orders simultaneously, commitment to train and develop other employees, and independence to accomplish job responsibilities with minimal oversight. The ideal candidate will have experience in the building automation control field, installation experience with various DDC/BAS controls, and the ability to read and interpret plans and wiring schematics. The position demands physical stamina, as it requires bending, stooping, climbing, and lifting heavy materials. The work environment is typically loud, and the installer will be expected to work in all weather conditions. This is a full-time position with a pay range of $32.00 - $36.00 per hour, and the work schedule is Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Install controllers, field devices, electrical cable, conduit systems, and plastic tubing in a neat and workmanlike manner.
  • Follow installation standards and branch QC processes.
  • Stay up-to-date with installation materials and control devices, functions, uses, and proper mounting & installation methods.
  • Direct subcontractors including scheduling, resource management, and coordination of construction and start-up services as needed.
  • Provide input to project team on site updates, safety reporting, and developing RFIs using common office software.
  • Assist with job commissioning, start-up procedures, and owner training if necessary.
  • Maintain and keep current all As-Built drawings weekly.
  • Complete daily field reports and maintain a written daily log.
  • Review, interpret and analyze contract documents, plans, specifications, and schedules.
  • Prepare complete takeoffs for labor tasking, budget comparison, and material buyouts.
  • Oversee crew productivity, quality, and workmanship.
  • Ensure that all installations comply with the NEC and local AHJ requirements.
  • Inform Project Manager immediately of extra work required outside of contracted scope.
  • Attend required meetings and address all electrical scheduling and coordination needs.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • OSHA training or certification.
  • CPR/First Aid Certificate.
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License and approved motor vehicle record.
  • Related building automation control field installation experience.
  • Installation experience with LONG, Siemens, ATS, Automated Logic, Johnson Controls and other DDC/BAS controls.
  • Ability to read, understand, interpret and follow plans, wiring schematics, and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and the ability to locate, layout, and install control devices.
  • Knowledge of all applicable electrical and mechanical codes.
  • Previous managerial and leadership experience managing both projects and teams.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and varied shift hours as needed.
  • Ability to direct Journeymen and Apprentices.
  • Proficient knowledge of the construction industry and low voltage electrical systems.
  • Customer service skills and ability to develop new and build existing relationships.
  • Detail oriented and ability to multi-task.
