About the position

The Building Automation System Integrator at University Mechanical Contractors, Inc (UMC) is responsible for the installation and programming of Direct Digital Controllers (DDC) in both new construction projects and retrofits. This role involves conducting point-to-point verification, troubleshooting, and validating DDC network communications. The integrator will assist in designing graphical displays within the parameters set by the System Development Team, Engineering, and Project Manager. Additionally, the position requires inspecting and validating systems, assisting with panel building, and following installation methods as directed by onsite representatives. The integrator will also interpret blueprints, building schematics, and DDC controls drawings, attend site meetings, and provide daily reports to the Project Manager. UMC operates as a registered Distech Product Distributor and installer, utilizing the Tridium Niagara Platform with both MS/TP and BACnet over IP protocols. The integrator will be expected to program databases for all supported systems to meet specified sequences of operation and equipment manufacturers' recommendations, ensuring compliance with company standards and control drawings. Calibration and check-out of control systems will be performed to ensure that specified sequences of operations and commissioning requirements are met in a timely manner. The role also includes providing customer support on building/system operation and maintenance of temperature control systems, as well as managing time effectively to complete assignments on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Install programs within Direct Digital Controllers (DDC) for new construction and retrofit projects.
  • Conduct point-to-point verification and troubleshoot DDC network communications.

  • Manage time to complete assignments on time and within budget.

Requirements

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in the Building Automation Industry.
  • Strong DDC/System Programming skills.
  • Strong interactive and communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and relationship management skills.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical system knowledge.
  • Experience with electronics and basic electrical circuits.
  • Knowledge of DDC Control Theory and Applications.
  • Ability to interface with UMC teams, clients, engineers, and property managers.
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised.
  • ACAD/Visio skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Tridium/Niagara experience with Distech (preferred).
  • Computer and networking skills.
