About the position

The Building Automation Systems Technology Coordinator at TxDOT is responsible for overseeing building automation control systems, including HVAC, lighting, and alarms, to ensure efficient operation within the TxDOT HQ Complex in Austin, TX. This role involves technical support, maintenance, and installation of electronic systems, while promoting a safe and balanced work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, diagnose, maintain, and repair electronic systems and equipment.
  • Assist project managers with construction and management projects and contracts.
  • Train employees in the use of various electronic equipment and create instructional literature.
  • Troubleshoot and solve complex technical software/hardware and client-server problems.
  • Assist with electrical repairs, installations, and computer wiring in departmental buildings.
  • Inspect contracted work and coordinate the contract process.
  • Order parts and equipment, keeping records of repairs, employee time, and mileage.
  • Receive and process work orders from district sections and coordinate equipment repairs.
  • Train technicians in equipment repair and troubleshooting.
  • Write specifications for repair parts, system components, and tests equipment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 6 years of experience in electronic systems and equipment installation and repair.
  • Valid driver's license.
