About the position

The Building Automation Tech/HVAC position is a full-time role responsible for servicing and repairing air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating units throughout the district. The technician will report directly to the Director of Maintenance and will be expected to maintain the safe condition of HVAC units in facilities owned by the school district. The position requires a strong working knowledge of various building automation systems and the ability to perform preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assumes primary responsibility for the safe condition of HVAC units in facilities owned by the school district.
• Performs preventative maintenance on a regular schedule for motors and other mechanical equipment in district-owned facilities.
• Recommends the purchase of supplies, equipment, and tools necessary for the heating/air conditioning maintenance program.
• Reports any damage and equipment needing major repair promptly to the Director of Maintenance, Operations and Transportation.
• Repairs or replaces thermostats and pneumatic controls, heating units, and convectors.
• Cleans and repairs furnaces and cooling units.
• Repairs kitchen equipment as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Exhibits competence, skill, and safety in the use of tools, equipment, and materials.
• Is able to interpret building plans and working drawings to diagnose causes of equipment breakdowns.
• Is knowledgeable in testing parts with appropriate instruments, disassembling and assembling parts, and making necessary repairs as needed.
• Strong working knowledge of Automated Logic WebCTRL and Tracer Trane Summit Building Automation Systems.
• No restrictions on standing or lifting (minimum of 45 lbs.).
• Demonstrates aptitude/competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Demonstrates literacy in reading, writing, and following directions/instructions.
• Health and Inoculation Certificate on file.
