About the position

Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering is seeking an Architectural Engineer Intern with an Electrical focus to support the Building Group. The intern will help establish, maintain, and improve company standards and tools while contributing to project success. This role requires familiarity with current drawing and technical tools, programs, and software, along with an understanding of design documentation creation and layouts. The ideal candidate will exhibit flexibility in work assignments and maintain a growth mindset in their technical and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Develop familiarity with departmental design standards, applicable codes, policies, guidelines, and standards.
• Prepare basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analyses.
• Prepare basic architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) design sketches for drafting and incorporation into final plans.
• Assist in checking various prepared drawings and documents as assigned and within established guidelines.
• Inspect construction sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to architectural/MEP drawings, specifications, and construction.
• Check vendor drawings for compliance to design specifications.
• Submit lessons learned to the department database.
• Communicate with other disciplines to coordinate design interfacing issues.

Requirements

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architectural Engineering (with an Electrical or MEP focus) from an ABET accredited college or university.
• GPA above 3.0 preferred.
• Comfortable with the use of basic spreadsheet, database, and word processing programs.
• Familiar with basic structural analysis software, engineering software, and basic CADD software for reviewing drafter's work.
• Specific knowledge of MathCad, REVIT, and Navisworks is highly desirable.
