About the position

WSP is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to lead Building Enclosures Commissioning in Boston, MA. This role involves managing and guiding the local Building Envelope Commissioning team, ensuring that design and construction elements meet Owner Project Requirements and relevant standards. The position requires strong project management skills and a detail-oriented approach to oversee various aspects of building enclosure systems, including analysis, construction observations, and technical consultations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate efforts with the Boston-based MEP Systems Commissioning team and enclosure commissioning specialists.
  • Perform analysis, peer review, and consultation on Building Enclosure systems and related construction.
  • Conduct construction observations and evaluate contractor performance to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Prepare and review construction-related drawings, technical specifications, and reports for Building Enclosure projects.
  • Observe and perform field functional performance testing and construction mockup design for Building Enclosure systems.
  • Participate in forensic investigations and field reviews to determine design and repair options.
  • Engage in design meetings with stakeholders and provide technical advice to clients.
  • Contribute to building asset evaluation and management projects, including property condition assessments and reserve studies.
  • Assist with marketing activities and participate in proposal preparation for new projects.
  • Contribute to the firm's knowledge management and maintain client relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Building Science, or Construction Management.
  • 10+ years of work experience in a related field.
  • Registered Engineer, Architect, or other applicable professional license preferred.
  • IIBEC CBECxP certification is preferred.
  • Understanding of Functional Performance Testing for Building Enclosures.
  • Project management experience and coordination skills between disciplines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven success in managing Building Enclosure related projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of building materials and construction processes.
  • Interest in innovative design and sustainability practices.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Office Suite, and related programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in LEED and high-performance buildings.
  • Familiarity with building science analytics and modeling software such as WUFI or THERM.
