About the position

The Building Facilities Manager (Space Planning & Operations) at the University of Pennsylvania is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operations of facilities, particularly within the Perelman School of Medicine. This role ensures compliance with established standards of care, manages daily operations, and serves as a liaison between various departments to optimize facility services. The manager is also on call for emergencies and must be able to travel within the five-county area.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all facilities maintenance, repairs, and general building operations are conducted in compliance with the Standard of Care.
  • Serve as a principal liaison for daily facilities operations with various departments.
  • Manage housekeeping, maintenance, building systems, utilities, and minor construction services.
  • Provide feedback to customers on work status and follow up on service requests.
  • Respond to facility emergencies and serve as backup for the Off-Campus Operations Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in facilities management or related field.
  • Understanding of internal customer activities and customer service competencies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of technical aspects of planning, operating, and maintaining mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience preferred in Engineering/Facility Management or related fields.
  • Ability to positively influence the work team and foster collaboration.
