About The Position

The Building/Grounds Maintenance Worker at Camp Lincoln is responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled labor and building mechanical work under direct supervision. This role involves maintaining the facility and grounds, assisting skilled craftsmen, and operating heavy equipment as required. The position is essential for ensuring the upkeep and functionality of the facilities used by the Illinois Air and Army National Guard.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge and skill equivalent to completion of high school.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment and power tools safely.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions, including blueprints and diagrams.

Nice To Haves

• One year of maintenance work experience, preferably in building/mechanical trades or heavy equipment operation.
• Working knowledge of construction and maintenance tools, equipment, and materials.
• Elementary knowledge of one or more building and mechanical trades.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine ground maintenance of the facility.
• Assist skilled craftsmen in various building mechanical tasks.
• Repair fences, roadways, bridges, sidewalks, etc.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and repairs on lawn care equipment such as mowers and tractors.
• Load and unload trucks, set up and take down tables and chairs, and move office equipment.
• Check building security by monitoring for fires and prowlers, and checking windows and doors.
• Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
