About the position

The Building Maintenance position in Pueblo, Colorado, is responsible for maintaining all facility systems in a thorough and professional manner. This role involves performing routine and preventative maintenance on plumbing, mechanical, HVAC systems, and architectural components to ensure a safe and effective environment for clients and staff. The position requires responding to maintenance requests, troubleshooting issues, and performing repairs across multiple facilities managed by the Colorado Department of Human Services.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general routine maintenance functions in all Southern District Facilities.
  • Respond to work requests phoned into the maintenance dispatch desk during normal operating and after hours.
  • Inspect the facilities and generate work orders for necessary repairs such as burnt out lights, leaking faucets, and loose hinges.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, adjust and make minor repairs to various types of locks.
  • Snake clogged sanitary lines using appropriate equipment.
  • Repair residential, institutional, and penal fixtures including dripping faucets and running water closets.
  • Perform electrical repairs, replace ballast, lights, and light fixtures.
  • Secure and repair damaged windows caused by patients.
  • Adjust door hinges and closures for proper function.
  • Repair damage to facilities' finishes and systems, including walls, ceilings, and floors.
  • Apply paint to various surfaces in a professional manner.
  • Perform routine and scheduled snow removal and apply ice melt as needed.
  • Assist other trades as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Four years of building maintenance experience including general maintenance and repairs in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and general locksmithing.
  • A combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship program, and/or relevant experience equal to four years may substitute for experience.

  • Ability to work and train people on advanced card access reader systems.
  • Basic computer skills including email and Google applications.
  • Knowledge of tools used in building maintenance such as voltage meters and pipe cutters.
  • Knowledge of technology used in building maintenance including electronic locks and appliances.
