About the position

Ready to join a Team of Skilled Technicians at Associated Grocers? We are looking for a Building Maintenance Technician I to join us! The Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing facility infrastructure within a grocery distribution center, administrative facility, and campus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general building maintenance and repairs.
  • Use basic carpentry and painting skills to hang sheetrock, suspend acoustical ceilings, floor covering repairs and concrete repairs.
  • Fix walls, floors, and doors including dock doors.
  • Maintain and repair plumbing systems such as drains, faucets, valves, and lines.
  • Maintain and repair fixtures, ballasts, switches, and outlets.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as tuggers, pallet jacks, and any other motorized equipment within the facility.
  • Understand facility fire system and its layout, control valves, and alarm system.
  • Functional knowledge and proper use of work order tracking software in association with work orders and assignments, including accepting work requests, creating work requests and work orders, charging parts and labor to work orders, and completing and closing out work orders in a timely manner.
  • Understand and follow facility specific as well as industry standard safety regulations, and follow all food safety procedures established by the site.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year of general repair work.
  • Valid driver's license and appropriate motor vehicle record preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of cutting torch, drill press, and skill saw.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Experience moving heavy equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and scissor lifts.
  • Welding experience.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical skills.
  • One year experience in various types of building maintenance.
  • Ability to multitask through various projects and work orders.
  • Maintain and repair equipment driven by belts and pulleys such as conveyor belts.
  • Actively seek to expand skill level in areas such as electrical troubleshooting and repair, fabrication/welding, sheet metal repair and installation, basic plumbing repair, and troubleshooting warehouse equipment.
