About the position

The Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring that buildings are maintained in good condition through various tasks including upkeep, preventive maintenance, repairs, and landscaping. This role involves handling air conditioning, heating, pest control, plumbing, and carpentry, as well as cleaning and maintaining building fixtures and equipment for a family housing center.

Responsibilities

  • Perform upkeep and preventive maintenance on buildings.
  • Conduct repairs including plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work.
  • Handle landscaping and pest control tasks.
  • Maintain air conditioning and heating systems.
  • Clean and repair building fixtures and equipment.
  • Utilize common hand and power tools effectively.
  • Follow directions and work independently.
  • Maintain proper schedules for maintenance tasks.
  • Provide strong customer service and communicate effectively.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years working experience in maintenance or carpentry.
  • Own necessary tools for the job.
  • OSHA Certification preferred.
  • Verifiable work history confirming professional skills and experience.
  • Valid CT License required.
  • Reliable work vehicle.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with general trade skills such as painting and drywall.
  • Ability to work in varying heights and conditions.
