The Building Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the Building Superintendent by performing a variety of general maintenance, repair, and cleaning duties to ensure that all Lincoln County buildings are safe and well-maintained. This position is essential for maintaining the functionality and appearance of the facilities, which includes both interior and exterior tasks. The technician will be responsible for grounds maintenance, handling minor repairs of fixtures and equipment, and performing routine cleaning tasks as needed. The role requires a proactive approach to maintenance, ensuring that all areas are kept in optimal condition and that any issues are addressed promptly. In addition to general maintenance, the technician will engage in more specialized tasks such as remodeling, sheet rocking, and finish carpentry. This includes the installation, dismantling, and movement of various types of office furniture and equipment. The technician will also be responsible for repairing and replacing plumbing fixtures, troubleshooting minor electrical issues, and operating various types of equipment including bobcats, forklifts, lawnmowers, and snow removal equipment. The role demands a hands-on approach to maintaining the grounds, which includes mowing, trimming, and picking up debris, as well as ensuring that snow is removed from sidewalks and entrances during inclement weather. The technician will also assist with routine cleaning procedures, including floor care, emptying garbage, and replenishing supplies. Security is a key aspect of the role, as the technician will maintain, repair, and replace institutional locks and electronic security systems, ensuring that all entrances and doors are secure. Continuous learning is encouraged, and the technician will attend classes and seminars to stay updated on safety protocols and new techniques in building maintenance.
