About the position

The Building Maintenance Worker at UCSF Health is responsible for performing semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks under the supervision of the Parnassus Operations Manager. This role involves working independently or as part of a crew to ensure the reliability of Medical Center systems and equipment, while maintaining a safe and clean environment for patient care. The position requires physical capability and effective communication skills to interact with hospital staff, patients, and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Perform semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks independently or as part of a crew.
  • Support journeyman craft personnel in various maintenance activities.
  • Maintain the reliability of Medical Center systems and equipment.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and responsive environment for patient care.
  • Establish professional relationships with hospital staff, patients, and the public.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience working with hand tools in a maintenance environment.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to work swing shift.
  • Ability to lift 70 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, crawling, and climbing ladders.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
