About the position
The Building Maintenance Worker at Geneva City School District is responsible for ensuring the functionality and safety of school facilities through routine maintenance, repairs, and enhancements. This full-time position requires a strong background in facilities maintenance and excellent customer service skills, contributing to the operational efficiency and high standards of service within the district.
Responsibilities
- Repairs windows, doors, floors, walls, and other parts of buildings.
- Performs interior and exterior painting where quantity rather than fine quality of work is the principal object.
- Conducts semi-skilled work in masonry, carpentry, electrical, or painting operations.
- Assists in installing and repairing general plumbing equipment such as sinks, toilets, and baths.
- Helps install and repair wiring systems and electric fixtures and equipment.
- Cleans and repairs boilers, pumps, heaters, pipelines, valves, and traps.
- Operates trucks, cars, air compressors, snowblowers, lawnmowers, and other motorized equipment.
- Mixes plaster and concrete and assists in laying brick, plastering walls, and finishing concrete work.
- Replaces defective fuses or light ballasts.
- Participates in general grounds maintenance activities, including snow and ice removal, and trimming of trees, shrubs, and lawns.
Requirements
- 1 year of maintenance experience (preferred).
- Valid Driver's License (preferred).
