About the position

The Building Maintenance Employee at West Point Underwriters LLC is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks for office buildings, grounds, and equipment. This role involves hands-on work in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance, ensuring that facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained. The position emphasizes a commitment to quality work and a positive work-life balance within a family-oriented organization.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and painting tasks.
  • Repair and handle structures such as floors, showers, sinks, walls, roofs, and carpets.
  • Conduct minor troubleshooting and repairs of locks, doors, and electronic door locks.
  • Change filters on air-conditioning units and maintain them to working standards.
  • Respond to A/C alarms and emergency maintenance requests as required.
  • Replace and repair light bulbs and ballasts as needed.
  • Service appliances and assist in moving furniture and equipment.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and orderly work sites.
  • Perform basic rough and finished carpentry work.
  • Identify and perform basic repairs of plumbing leaks or breaks.
  • Maintain grounds in a clean and orderly manner.

Requirements

  • Any combination of education, training, and experience demonstrating the ability to perform maintenance duties.
  • Basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, painting, grounds keeping, appliance repair, and electrical wiring.
  • Skill in using a variety of hand and power tools effectively.
  • Ability to read blueprints and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Possession of a valid Florida driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with HVAC systems and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and procedures related to building trades.
