About the position

The Inside Building Material Sales Representative at Gold Beach Lumber is responsible for managing customer inquiries and orders related to building materials. This role requires a strong understanding of construction materials and the ability to read blueprints to provide accurate product recommendations. The representative will engage with customers through various communication channels, ensuring timely delivery and satisfaction while maintaining strong relationships.

Responsibilities

• Respond to customer inquiries via phone, email, and in person, providing accurate information on building materials and solutions.
• Process and manage customer orders, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications to recommend appropriate materials.
• Maintain and develop strong customer relationships, offering personalized service to meet their needs.
• Collaborate with the sales team, vendors, and warehouse staff to ensure smooth order fulfillment.
• Follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
• Track and meet sales targets and performance goals.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new product offerings, and building material innovations.
• Provide product expertise and guidance on material selection, ensuring customers are fully informed.
• Resolve any issues related to orders, returns, or product defects in a professional and timely manner.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in inside sales, preferably in building materials or the construction industry.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
• Strong knowledge of building materials, construction methods, and project requirements.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with customers.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and CRM software.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• High school diploma required; a degree or certification in construction or related field is a plus.
