About the position

Imerys is seeking an experienced individual in building infrastructure to join our team at the Johns Creek Science & Technology Center. This position will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our facility, ensuring safety compliance, overseeing maintenance activities, and optimizing purchasing processes. The ideal candidate will take the initiative and possess a background in building infrastructure, safety protocols, and maintenance practices. The Building Operations Specialist will manage the facility access system to ensure secure and appropriate access for employees, visitors, and contractors. They will ensure that lab and office infrastructure are in excellent working condition by proactively addressing issues and setting up preventive maintenance activities, including for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. The specialist will act as the primary point of contact for lab maintenance activities, overseeing maintenance contractors and scheduling annual maintenance tasks. In addition, the role involves maintaining accurate documentation in accordance with maintenance policies and conducting all tasks using good housekeeping practices. The specialist will ensure that the lab is in full compliance with federal, state, county, and Imerys HSE regulations, covering employees, visitors, contractors, and interns. They will actively promote behavior-based safety and participate in safety audits, safety committee meetings, safety improvements, and inspections. Furthermore, the specialist will manage safety-related reporting and tracking systems, ensuring all safety processes are documented, maintained, and updated regularly. The position also includes purchasing responsibilities, where the specialist will purchase maintenance and related supplies, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), office and lab supplies as needed, and create purchase requisitions for the lab while managing invoice reconciliation in a timely and efficient manner. The specialist will ensure the timely payment of recurring expenditures, including facility cleaning, maintenance, security, and taxes, while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce redundant activities, and optimize expenditure. Excellent organizational and time management skills are essential, along with the ability to prioritize and drive multiple projects simultaneously.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in building infrastructure.
  • Experience in safety regulations & protocols.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using Google Suite, Excel, AX Citrix or SAP, safety and facility management software.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Experience with purchasing and invoice management.
  • Hands-on maintenance skills are a plus.
