About the position

This position involves performing various physical tasks to set up and tear down equipment and materials for events at an arena and convention center. The role includes cleaning and maintaining the facility, ensuring a safe working environment, and operating various equipment as needed. The individual will work under the direct supervision of Operations Management and may have limited supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare facility for shows including chairs, stages, tables, drape, stanchion and other equipment as assigned.
  • Participate in the installation of basketball courts, ice surfaces, subfloors, and retractable seating as required for the event.
  • Perform exterior cleaning of plaza and steps.
  • Clean interior and exterior glass as needed.
  • Dispose of all waste, including bulk trash removal from building in all areas.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms as needed.
  • Sweep and mop areas and shampoo carpets as assigned or needed.
  • Read and understand event work orders.
  • Coordinate work with all operations sections.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Attend to and conform to the policies established by SMG.
  • Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts and company vehicles as required after training.
  • Work on special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior conversion and/or event experience in an arena, convention center or similar public assembly facility preferred.
  • Ability to work in a multi-tasking environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, alone, or with or without direct supervision.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must possess any licenses, certificates or training required by local, state or national authorities for the operation of the equipment found in the facility.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a similar role in a public assembly facility.
  • Basic computer skills including the ability to operate standard office equipment.
