About the position

The Building Services Technician is responsible for maintaining critical equipment essential for the operation of company facilities. This role involves performing repairs and preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, fire detection, and building control systems, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work orders on facility mechanical, electrical, lighting, and other installed systems.
  • Maintain, operate, and repair all HVAC systems and associated equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair building electrical systems of 440 volts or less.
  • Diagnose and repair failures in environmental cooling system refrigeration components, such as chillers and compressors.
  • Maintain compliance with State, County, or City Ordinances, Codes, or Laws.
  • Respond effectively to all emergencies both during and after hours.
  • Prepare and submit summary reports listing conditions found during assigned work and recommend actions to be taken.
  • Study and become familiar with various equipment and methods required for everyday activities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Technical or vocational school education.
  • Experience in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job, including lifting 70 lbs or more.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Proven record of providing excellent customer service with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to read floor plans and electrical diagrams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Valid Non-CDL Class C license.
  • Type Universal Technician Certification as designated by EPA regulations.
  • Prior commercial/industrial on-the-job training in HVAC (boilers/chillers).
