The Buildings Mechanical Engineer position at Black & Veatch focuses on the engineering and design of HVAC and plumbing systems for various facilities, particularly HyperScale and Colocation Data Centers. The role involves leading design and construction activities, conducting energy audits, and applying sustainable design strategies. Responsibilities

• Lead engineering and design of HVAC and plumbing systems for various facilities.
• Design HVAC and plumbing systems for HyperScale and Colocation Data Centers.
• Support design for administrative, warehouse, maintenance, and laboratory spaces.
• Conduct Data Center airflow CFD modeling for interior and exterior spaces.
• Perform energy audits and efficiency studies, including code reviews and sustainable design applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum of 8 years of related work experience.
• Professional Engineering (PE) License required.
• AP certified professional experienced in obtaining LEED certification for industrial buildings.

Nice-to-haves

• Basic knowledge of NFPA standards.
• Experience with HVAC system energy modeling for energy code compliance.
• Familiarity with green building initiatives such as LEED and Green Globes.
• Experience in large-scale water and air-cooled chiller plant design.
• Knowledge of International Codes Council (ICC) Suite of Codes and ASHRAE Handbooks.
