About the position

The Burner / Torch Operator at ShearWorx LLC is responsible for cutting ferrous materials using a torch, primarily focusing on preparing scrap metal at various off-site locations. This role requires significant travel and involves working with steel and aluminum rail cars, ensuring compliance with safety standards while maintaining equipment and work areas.

Responsibilities

• Cuts oversized ferrous materials to commodity specifications
• Safely and efficiently operates Cutting Torch / Welder
• Maintains torch equipment to ensure maximum performance
• Cleans and maintains work area for fire control and to eliminate trip/fall hazards
• Handles physical materials and supplies as needed
• Wears all proper PPE while working in designated locations
• Works in all weather conditions
• Follows company safety standards at all times
• Communicates effectively with team members

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• 1+ years of Torch / Welding experience
• Valid Driver's License
• Knowledge of safety standards and adherence to current regulations
• General knowledge of scrap metal manufacturing
• Ability to lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 50 lbs.
