About the position

The Full-time Bus Operator at Estuary Transit District is responsible for the safe and orderly transportation of passengers using various vehicles. This role includes vehicle inspections, maintenance, and ensuring a positive experience for passengers while adhering to safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operate Estuary Transit District's vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Complete daily inspections of the vehicle before operation.
• Fuel the vehicle and perform interior and exterior cleaning as needed.
• Maintain accurate trip records and assist passengers as required.
• Receive and account for fares during trips.
• Communicate via radio for operational needs and report any issues to the Operations Manager.

Requirements

• Valid Connecticut Driver's License with all required endorsements including a public service endorsement.
• Class B CDL with passenger endorsement and F endorsement required for full-time Bus Operators.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five years of driving experience with a good driving record for the preceding two years.
• Ability to lift 60 lbs and perform all duties associated with operating a vehicle.
• Ability to learn and apply District's policies independently.
• Good judgment in recognizing scope of authority and maintaining relationships with coworkers and the public.
• Ability to pass a DOT physical and comply with drug and alcohol screening.
