About the position

The City of Simi Valley is seeking a part-time Bus Driver (Transit Coach Operator) to join its Transit Division team. This role involves providing safe and reliable transportation services to the public while delivering exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate will be professional, courteous, and able to interact effectively with a diverse range of passengers, including senior citizens and individuals with disabilities. The position requires flexibility in working hours, including early mornings, evenings, and operational holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a heavy-duty transit vehicle safely and efficiently.
  • Provide excellent customer service to passengers.
  • Follow designated routes and schedules.
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of passengers during transit.
  • Assist passengers with boarding and alighting from the vehicle.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle interior.
  • Report any vehicle maintenance issues promptly.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • One year of experience in the operation of a transit vehicle.
  • Possession of a valid commercial driver's license with passenger endorsement.
  • Valid Medical Examination Certification.
  • Ability to obtain a Verification of Transit Training certificate within the initial training period.
