Responsibilities
- Drive a school bus daily over designated routes in accordance with assigned time schedules
- Escort children across streets or roadways, stopping traffic as necessary
- Transport students and teachers on field trips to various locations
- Service buses with gasoline, diesel fuel, and oil
- Check vehicles daily to maintain safe operating condition
- Clean windshields and headlights
- Keep vehicles clean and neat
- Advise on repairs needed
- Attend scheduled meetings and safety programs
- Maintain good order among students on the buses
- Report incidents which affect the safety of pupils
- Make minor repairs to vehicles as directed
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- One (1) year of general driving experience or six (6) months experience as a bus driver
- Possession of a valid School Bus Driver's Certificate issued through examination by the California Highway Patrol
- First Aid Certificate required
- Knowledge of safe driving practices and applicable motor vehicle codes
