About the position
The Bus Driver position at SUNY Cortland involves driving a full-sized passenger bus for the campus community, ensuring safe and efficient transportation. The role includes maintaining written records of trips and performing preventative vehicle maintenance. The position operates primarily Monday through Friday, with potential additional shifts based on campus needs, and may involve temporary assignments in other departments during breaks.
Responsibilities
- Drive a full-sized passenger bus over the road and on state facility grounds.
- Keep written records of trips, mileage, and stopovers.
- Supervise loading and unloading of passengers and personal property.
- Perform preventative vehicle maintenance such as monitoring gauges, checking tire pressures, and maintaining appropriate fluid levels.
Requirements
- Ability to operate vehicles safely and effectively, with awareness of vehicle and traffic laws.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance and maintain knowledge of automotive repair and maintenance procedures.
- Possession of a valid New York State CDL-Class B driver's license with passenger endorsement (without restrictions).
- Successful candidates must comply with the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (OTETA) for drug and alcohol testing.
- NYS DOT physical is required.
