About the position
As a Bus Driver for NJ Transit in the Southern Division, you will play a crucial role in the operations of one of North America's largest transportation agencies. This full-time position is available in multiple locations including Egg Harbor Township, Hamilton, Camden, and Turnersville. NJ Transit is dedicated to providing safe and reliable service, ensuring that customers reach their destinations on time. Qualified applicants will be considered for this role, especially those who already possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements. NJ Transit will assist candidates in obtaining a New Jersey CDL, but those with existing qualifications will be prioritized. The ideal candidate must be at least 21 years old, possess a valid New Jersey Driver's License, and have a clean driving record with fewer than five accumulated points. Additionally, candidates must be able to participate in a structured training program lasting between 21 to 25 business days, which requires perfect attendance. The position is deemed safety-sensitive, adhering to the Department of Transportation's Drug and Alcohol Testing Regulations. This means that the use of marijuana, in any form, is strictly prohibited for safety-sensitive employees. Responsibilities
- Transport passengers safely to their destinations in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean and safe bus environment for passengers.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving.
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus.
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service to passengers during their journey.
- Report any incidents or accidents to the appropriate authorities promptly.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Able to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
- Possess three years of non-provisional driving experience with a valid New Jersey Driver's License or a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Must have a safe driving record with less than five accumulated points.
- Ability to obtain a validated New Jersey Commercial Driver's License permit with the necessary endorsements.
- Must pass the company's interview process, background check, and physical examination.
