About The Position

The Bus Driver is responsible for transporting passengers over specified routes to local or distant points according to a time schedule. This position requires operating the bus in a safe and courteous manner, enforcing transportation policies, assisting passengers with baggage, ensuring passenger comfort, completing operational requirements, maintaining communication with the Transportation department, and upholding professionalism while on duty. The Bus Driver will also attend university events and meetings as required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree.
• Two years minimum OTR driving experience on a similar type vehicle.
• Current Commercial Driver's License with passenger endorsement and current medical and drug card.
• Superior command of English grammar and spelling.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Basic computational skills.
• Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of problems.

Responsibilities

• Operates bus in a safe and courteous manner.
• Protects passengers by enforcing transportation policies and procedures; complies with traffic regulations.
• Assists passengers by loading and unloading baggage; aids in boarding and de-boarding the bus.
• Ensures passenger comfort by regulating heating, lighting, and ventilating systems.
• Completes operational requirements by performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections and filing appropriate paperwork.
• Maintains communication with Transportation by providing route and schedule information; reports delays or accidents.
• Maintains professionalism by dressing neatly and keeping the bus clean.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Supports and affirms a culture of distinctive excellence and exceptional service.
• Attends University events and required meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Benefits

• Hourly rate of $21/hour - $23/hour.
