About the position
We are seeking a dedicated and responsible Bus Driver to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing safe and efficient transportation services while ensuring the comfort and satisfaction of passengers. This role involves driving various types of buses, including motor coaches, school buses, and paratransit vehicles, while adhering to all safety regulations and company policies. The position will be responsible for driving a passenger bus on a 3 mile loop for 6-8 trips per day. Flexible hours are required as shifts will begin at 6AM and finish at 6PM and some days will have breaks in between.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate buses on designated routes, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in safe operating condition.
- Maintain a clean and organized bus interior for passenger comfort.
- Communicate effectively with passengers regarding schedules, routes, and any changes that may occur.
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, including those with disabilities or special needs.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving.
- Report any mechanical issues or accidents immediately to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain accurate records of trips, passenger counts, and any incidents that occur during transit.
Requirements
- Proven experience in commercial driving is preferred, with a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with endorsement P.
- Mechanical knowledge is a plus for performing basic vehicle maintenance tasks.
- Experience in bus driving, shuttle driving, school bus driving, or paratransit services is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills in English are essential for effective interaction with passengers and team members.
