About the position
The Bus Driver position is responsible for safely transporting children to and from school, ensuring their safety and well-being during transit. The role involves maintaining the bus in good condition, adhering to traffic laws, and managing student behavior to create a safe environment.
Responsibilities
- Transport children to and from school in the mornings and afternoons
- Verify permissions for children who ride home with friends
- Maintain a clean and mechanically sound bus at all times
- Obey all traffic laws
- Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route
- Ensure the safety of all students and mask requirements
- Discipline children when required to maintain a safe and healthy environment
- Assist students with getting on and off the bus when required
- Attend monthly safety meetings
Requirements
- Must have a high school diploma/GED
- Must possess a valid Michigan CDL Driver's License with a passenger ('P') and a school bus ('S') endorsements
- Must be able to complete all required forms, including trip sheets, pre/post bus inspection sheets, and vehicle inspection reports clearly and in a legible manner
- Must pass background check
