About the position

The Bus Monitor/Education Support Floater position at Easterseals North Georgia involves ensuring the safety and well-being of children during bus rides and providing educational support in classrooms. This role is crucial for maintaining a positive and safe environment for students, particularly those with special needs, while also assisting teachers and staff as needed.

Responsibilities

• Accompany the bus driver to pick up and drop off children assigned to the route.
• Monitor student behavior and ensure compliance with bus rules and regulations.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and bus drivers.
• Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus safely.
• Educate students on proper bus conduct and safety procedures.
• Provide support to students with special needs or disabilities.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance and incidents during bus rides.
• Assist Teacher and Teacher assistant when needed in classrooms.
• Assist in cleaning classroom and equipment.

Requirements

• Must be eligible to work in a licensed child development center.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong behavior management skills to effectively handle challenging situations on the bus.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with students, parents, and school staff.
• Experience working with children, particularly in a classroom or childcare setting.
• Knowledge of special education practices and techniques for supporting students with disabilities beneficial.
