About the position

The Business Administrative Specialist at the New York City Employees' Retirement System (NYCERS) plays a crucial role in supporting the Membership and Service Division. This high-level support position involves data analysis, communication management, and administrative tasks to assist the Division Director and Deputy Directors in their operations. The role requires a blend of analytical skills and administrative capabilities to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency within the division.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data to provide insights and recommendations to Division Director and Deputy Directors.
  • Prepare reports and presentations summarizing key findings to aid decision-making.
  • Track key performance indicators and metrics related to the division's activities.
  • Manage inquiries and communications, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution of escalated cases.
  • Organize and maintain the SharePoint site for internal processes and external references.
  • Monitor administrative aspects of projects, compiling action items from meetings and ensuring deliverables are completed on time.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, gather necessary materials, and coordinate logistics for meetings called by the Director.
  • Support the Division Director and Deputy Directors in collecting information for briefings.
  • Track headcount, vacancies, and skill levels, coordinating with HR to maintain a master list.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university including or supplemented by 12 credits in mathematics, statistics, accounting, and/or actuarial science and four years of satisfactory full-time experience implementing the provisions of a retirement plan involving the use of mathematical, statistical, actuarial or accounting computations, 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity.
  • An associate degree or 60 credits from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by 12 credits in mathematics, statistics, accounting and/or actuarial science and six years of satisfactory full-time experience as indicated in the first requirement.
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to the above, with all candidates required to have 60 credits from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by 12 credits in mathematics, statistics, accounting and/or actuarial science and 18 months of experience in a supervisory, administrative, managerial or executive capacity.
