About the position

The SouthLA Women's Business Center (WBC) Business Advisor plays a crucial role in planning and organizing business programming, public training, and counseling services aimed at supporting women and economically disadvantaged communities. This leadership position involves collaborating with the Director to implement the WBC's goals, ensuring clients receive necessary resources and services to succeed in their entrepreneurial endeavors.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of WBC and the WBC team to maximize productivity and manage communications.
  • Manage program protocols and help strategize, implement, and maintain program processes.
  • Oversee program and client data collection to ensure timely reporting and achievement of program goals.
  • Work closely with the Director to facilitate deliverables and timing for all program initiatives.
  • Manage social media pages in partnership with the marketing department.
  • Schedule meetings and follow-ups with external representatives regarding contracts and grants.
  • Identify key requirements needed for external vendors.
  • Conduct bi-monthly program audits for compliance.
  • Attend community development meetings and trainings as required.
  • Assist an average of 25 entrepreneurs weekly.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills to support a diverse base of entrepreneurial clients.
  • Experience in providing business counseling and technical assistance to entrepreneurs.
  • Comfortable speaking to both small and large groups.
  • Creative in designing and marketing WBC programs through various methods.
  • Organized in record-keeping and reporting, detail-oriented and responsive to deadlines.
  • Collaborative with the ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong relationship-building and management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience managing a federal grant program or previous work with the SBA.
  • Experience leading teams and managing partnerships with various stakeholders.
